The district of Les Halles was originally a vast covered market. Today it is a green area consisting of the Garden of Les Halles and an underground shopping mall called the Forum des Halles. The "belly of Paris" as Zola called it, became the heart of the capital with the most visited commercial center in Paris and the biggest train station.
